The Catholic Youth Organization of Nigeria (CYON), St. Peter's Catholic Church along Iganmode Road, Ota, Abeokuta Diocese held its biennial Youth Week from Sunday 3 to 10 December, 2023. The program tagged 'God is Love' was attended not only by members of the CYON, but also by youths from the parish and other parishes within the diocese.

The activities that took place during the weeklong programme include: Car Wash, Praying and Fasting, Cultural Display, Cooking Competition, Quiz Competition, Sporting Activities, Health Talk and Praise Night,

According to the CYON President Mr. Edward Romanus Ozoemena, the Youth Week was organized in order to engage not just the members of the organization but also the youths of the church in activities that will build and improve their spiritual, social and moral life.

Speaking on the strength and weakness of CYON in Ota parish, Mr. Ozoemena stated that his greatest worry is that some youths are yet to identify with CYON despite repeated efforts to make them see why they should join the fold. He however expressed optimism that with the support of the Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Clement Ashade and the CYON patron Sir Raymond Ogbonna (KSM), the Youths are making headway in encouraging other youths in the parish to participate in parish activities that will will make positive impact in the lives of those concerned. 'Our major task is to embark on projects that will help to encourage parishioners to participating primarily in liturgical activities' said Mr. Ozoemena.
